FAQs
Do you accept insurance?
We are an in-network provider for CareFirst Blue Cross Blue Shield; Cigna, Aetna, Tricare, USFHP, United, and Johns Hopkins Healthcare. We are also happy to provide a superbill to submit to insurance for “out of network” provider reimbursement. Reimbursement is not guaranteed.
What is counseling like?
Counseling is a personally flavored experience since counseling is tailored to a client’s individual needs and unique set of circumstances. The first session is an "intake" appointment, during which the client is asked basic, informational questions to assist the therapist in getting an accurate understanding of a client’s context and concerns; the therapist and client also collaborate to establish goals for counseling. The course of the counseling experience will differ over time, based on a client’s unique situation, progress, and life events. The therapist may at times suggest therapeutic activities such as relaxation training, journaling, role-playing, talking with relevant individuals, reading assignments, or even “homework.” Client progress is evaluated on a regular basis and the client has an active voice in shaping the therapeutic journey.
How long is a therapy session?
Sessions can be booked in 30, 45, 60, and 120 minute increments. A “therapy hour” is typically 50 minutes of active counseling and 10 minutes of documentation/paperwork. Each type of session (30, 60, 90, or 120) will include active counseling time as well as time for documentation.
Is my session confidential?
Confidentiality is the bedrock of rapport between therapist and client. Clients enter into counseling only after a thorough informed-consent process which details the efforts of Evergreen Therapy to maintain client confidentiality and any potential exceptions to confidentiality. Evergeen Therapy staff members follow the professional, legal and ethical guidelines of the American Counseling Association and the state of Maryland. This means that information about your counseling sessions is not shared with anyone without your expressed written permission. There are some exceptions to confidentiality, however. If there is the possibility of harm to the client or another person, or in cases of child or elder abuse, staff are mandated to report certain information to the appropriate authorities. Please ask your therapist for more detailed information about confidentiality.
What is the cancellation policy?
We understand that life can be unpredictable. We will make every effort to assist with appointment cancellation and rescheduling. We offer a grace period for rescheduling, but ask that appointments be cancelled at least 24 hours prior to appointment start.
